With the sun coming out across the UK, and following from a season of bowls like no other here in Australia, I wanted to give a little update on rollUp Bowls and what I’ve been up to with the app.

I started building this app during the extended Covid lockdown in Melbourne. It’s been a great challenge learning more about software development – but most importantly connecting with bowlers across the world who have used the app. It’s incredible to think that starting from scratch, and with barely a dollar spent on advertising we’ve now grown to nearly 250 lawn bowlers using the app.

If you haven’t logged on for a while, please update the app and have a look around. I’ve recently added some features I’m quite proud of such as in-match stats and scorecards. I’ve also identified some of the bugs, so if your first experience was troublesome – hopefully things will run a bit smoother now.

I’ve also released rollUp Premium. This app costs me a small amount of money each money to run, and while we use some advertising, the income from that is not quite enough to cover the costs. If you can spare a couple of dollars a month, you’ll get access to my practice tracker, some improved statistics – and most importantly you’ll be helping to keep rollUp going and become the best lawn bowls app it can be. Thanks to those who have already signed up, it means a lot!

As always, I’d love to hear your feature requests and ideas for how I can make the app better. Send me an email or contact me through Facebook or Twitter, it’s always a thrill to speak with other bowlers who are using the app. I am working on some new tools for sharing scores – so your family, friends and clubmates can see how your match is going wherever they are.

Thanks again for supporting this project, and I hope to see you on the green.
